In February, the celebrity cochairs for the event were revealed, with Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour joining Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams. This year, LeBron James will serve as honorary chair. The Met is also reviving its tradition of a star-studded host committee.
Here, WWD breaks down everything you need to know about the 2025 Met Gala.
Theme and exhibition
The 2025 Met Gala theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” honoring the museum’s exhibition, which will highlight the archetype of the Black dandy. Inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity,” it’s the Met’s first fashion exhibit focused on menswear since 2003.
The exhibition will feature clothing, photographs, paintings and more, highlighting Black sartorial innovation from the 18th century to the present.
Exhibition Dates: May 10 – Oct. 26, 2025, at The Met Fifth Avenue, Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Exhibition Hall (Gallery 999, Floor 2).
Curatorial Team: Organized by Monica L.
