Not to freak you out or anything, but we are officially more than halfway through 2025. Summer is firmly underway, and that means our editors are busy having fun in the sun (with our SPF slathered on) — and, of course, looking good while doing it. When it comes to summer essentials, a few things come to mind: sweat-proof makeup, sun protection (in the form of sunscreens, hats and more), holiday-ready ‘fits and accessories, all of which figured heavily in our editors’ order histories last month. And now, we’re spilling all in our monthly favourites column.

As we do without fail, we’re presenting the best products (and general life-enhancing things) Refinery29 editors shopped and loved — (almost) all coming in under £50. The price point hits a sweet spot of quality and affordability, and as you know, we’re all for buying fewer, better things we plan to keep for years to come. Without further ado, keep clicking to peruse the most exciting purchases to blow up the group chat (and company Slack channels) from the month of June.

All linked products are independently selected by our editors. If you purchase any of these products, we may earn a commission.

Supergoop! (Re)setting Mineral Powder SPF 30

“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I swear by this Supergoop! SPF powder for scalp protection. I burn very easily and my hair gets oily very quickly, so when I found this mineral sunscreen on TikTok over a year ago, I was sold — and I continue to wear it regularly. The translucent formula is intended for sweeping over makeup to set it (which I also do), but it works great down my middle part and around my fringe to prevent sunburn and oiliness.” — Victoria Montalti, Associate Fashion Writer

Favorite Child Collective Lizzy Grant Phone Case

“I was so lucky and managed to secure tickets to see Lana Del Rey at Wembley Stadium (cue shrieking fangirling noises). Of course, I had to dress the part from head to toe, which included upgrading my phone case — RIP Lizzie Grant (if you know, you know).” — Esther Newman, Affiliate Writer

Murad Superactive Moisturiser SPF 40: Mattifying Oil + Pore Control

“I’m usually sceptical about mattifying sunscreens, especially as someone with very oily skin. Most of them look powdery or chalky and do little to control shine throughout the day. But this one is built differently. It takes a moment to work into the skin, but it’s so deeply hydrating that I skip my usual moisturiser and use this on its own. The real magic happens as the day goes on. Whether I’m on a packed, sweaty train or sprinting through central London, not a trace of shine breaks through my makeup. Even better, it doesn’t aggravate my acne-prone skin. In fact, it helps improve it, thanks to salicylic acid, which keeps pores clear. And with its high SPF, my skin stays protected and fresh all day.” — Jacqueline Kilikita, Beauty Director

H&M Denim Bermuda Shorts

“Jort summer! I lived in my blue denim cut-offs last summer, but white bermudas are something entirely new to me. I love that I can dress them up with a smart black belt, off-the-shoulder top and slingbacks or keep things casual with a tank top and flip flops. Long live loose shorts.” — Alicia Lansom, Culture Editor

By Terry Tea To Tan Blush Powder

“I’ve been obsessed with this powder blush in the shade Spicy Song; it perfectly mimics the healthy, glowy flush I get when I’ve been walking around the city in a heatwave. The buildable pigment really packs a punch and, thanks to skincare ingredients like black tea (an antioxidant) and nourishing cranberry oil, the powder melts into my cheekbones with the most natural, soft-focus effect.” — Venus Wong, Senior Writer

Citizens of Soil Sicilian Extra Virgin Olive Oil

“I only cook with extra virgin oil, half for the health benefits and half because it makes me feel like an Italian nonna cooking with the sea breeze flowing through the window. However, when I tasted this Sicilian olive oil from Citizens of Soil, I knew this was not an oil for cooking. I wrongly assumed that due to the light colour of the oil, this wouldn’t pack any punch, but this oil is intense and peppery and full of flavour. While I will mostly be saving it for salads and garnishing dishes, I did enjoy lightly drizzling this over a homemade pesto pasta, which gave it a kick I didn’t know it was missing. Plus, the limited-edition bottle (designed in collaboration with artist Hal Haines) makes it look super pretty sitting on my shelf.” — Alicia Lansom, Culture Editor

PackIt Freezable 12-Can Cooler Tote

“This cooler tote bag has become a new beach must-have for me. The inside is covered in a (surprisingly lightweight) ice pack lining, so you can throw the bag in a freezer beforehand and keep your food cool without adding bulky ice packs inside. I’ve used it for long beach days, and it consistently keeps water and perishables cold, which is a big win. Unfortunately, my nautical stripe design is sold out, but you can still snag a cherry red version on Amazon.” — Victoria Montalti, Associate Fashion Writer

Tutti Moon Oil

“I swear by Tutti’s Moon Oil. Since coming off hormonal birth control last year, my periods have become heavier and a lot more painful, not to mention my PMS becoming a lot more extreme. Moon Oil is made with magnesium to ease tense and sore muscles; hemp seed oil, which helps reduce bloating and instil calm; and iodine, which promotes healthy estrogen metabolism. Plus a cocktail of soothing, hydrating and lush-smelling essential oils: jojoba, frankincense, lavender, geranium and chamomile. Not to mention the ritual of it all; I’ve really appreciated taking the time to pause and tune into my body — there’s something about its deep, earthy scent that grounds me when I’m feeling anxious and emotional.

“I also really appreciate the personal touch of the brand. I hadn’t repurchased a bottle for over a year, and yet my delivery came with a handwritten note thanking me for my second order. I will flag that, as it’s an Australian brand, you will have to pay extra for postage, but I don’t mind at all since it takes me so long to get through a bottle.” — Esther Newman, Affiliate Writer

Vaseline Gluta-Hya Overnight Radiance Serum Burst Lotion

“I have a confession to make: I very rarely use body lotion. My scaly legs and arms certainly pay for it, but I hate the sticky, oily feeling most of them leave behind. I’m making an exception for Vaseline’s Gluta-Hya Overnight Radiance Serum Burst Lotion, though. It absorbs in mere seconds but delivers lasting benefits. That’s all down to brightening antioxidants like niacinamide, which I’m convinced is helping to smooth out my hyperpigmentation. Even though it sinks in quickly, don’t underestimate its moisturising credentials — glycerin keeps skin soft and supple.” — Jacqueline Kilikita, Beauty Director

Attega Amor de Verano T-Shirt

“Yes, I know this isn’t under £50, but it’s on sale, so that still counts, right? I can’t ever say no to a graphic tee, and this silver printed top from Spanish brand Attega called to me as soon as I saw it. The perfect boxy fit, the perfect grey marl colourway and of course, made from 100% cotton to keep me cool on hot city days. Summer love indeed.” — Alicia Lansom, Culture Editor

Susanne Kaufmann x Diptyque Lip Oil

“My makeup drawer is full of lip oils, but I’m particularly excited about Diptyque’s first foray into the category. Created in collaboration with Susanne Kaufmann, this lemon-scented formula has been a lovely pick-me-up this summer, thanks to an airy, souffle-like texture and conditioning ingredients like sea buckthorn extract (rich in vitamin E) and meadowfoam seed oil, which locks in moisture. I love putting this on first thing in the morning, followed by my usual lip liner and gloss combo.” — Venus Wong, Senior Writer

Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Blush Healthy Glow Stick

“‘Unreal’ really is the word for this blush — I’ve been wearing it nonstop since I discovered it a few weeks ago. The texture is buttery smooth, gliding over skin without disturbing my foundation, and it blends so seamlessly that I never need to tidy up with concealer afterwards (which I usually do with others). I’m obsessed with the shade Rosy Glow. It has subtle pearlescent particles that bring life to my cheeks without veering into sparkly territory. The staying power is also seriously impressive. Unlike most cream blushes, the pigment really lasts, so I never need to top up throughout the day. I also love the chunky stick format; it feels generous and great value for money.” — Jacqueline Kilikita, Beauty Director

London Rebel Evie Flat Jelly Shoes

“I’m leaning hard into nostalgia these days and have been looking for a pair of jelly sandals for summer. I’m a sucker for sparkle, and this black glitter pair by London Rebel (which I scored on sale at ASOS) is the perfect mix of cute and edgy. I will say: These are pretty flat and don’t offer much in the way of arch support. I probably wouldn’t go hiking in them, but for a cute rooftop hang or casual date, I think they’re adorable — and they come in a bunch of colours!” — Karina Hoshikawa, Senior Writer

Sienna X Untinted Gradual Self Tan Lotion

“Proper fake tan is too much of a commitment for me. I don’t have the energy to moisturise my elbows, knees and toes in preparation, meaning gradual tan is my favourite alternative. While most fake tan creams smell of mouldy biscuits, this lotion smells sweet and beachy and blends super easily with minimal mess. After a couple of days of applying every morning, I’m noticeably more golden, without any patchiness. A simple solution for summer in the city.” — Alicia Lansom, Culture Editor

Brow Aid Masterstroke Brow Trio (Pen)

“It’s a long story, but I accidentally got half of my brows shaved off on a trip to China last month. I was panicking hard about losing my brows forever until Kim O’Sullivan, a celebrity brow artist from Ireland, swooped in to save the day with her products. Her brand Brow Aid, recently launched in the UK, features a suite of growth serums, conditioning masks, pencils and tints designed to support brow growth. My favourite by far was this three-part magic wand in the shade Granite. It’s unlike any brow makeup product I’ve used before, and comes with a waterproof pencil, a spoolie, and a micro ink pen. The angular pencil was perfect for filling in my brows, while the liquid ink tip was perfect for creating realistic wisps of hair on the tip of my arches. Finally, the spoolie blends everything together naturally. It’s been my holy grail for faking a full, fluffy brow until my real ones grow back.” — Venus Wong, Senior Writer
