best loungewear

Well there you have it, we’ve got a second lockdown looming, and with it being winter, there’s no better time to indulge in the best loungewear you can afford. We might as well make the most of curling up on the sofa and watching Netflix.

Thanks to the year we’ve had, the trend has gone from strength to strength, with workers swapping suits for tracksuits and knitted sets. In fact, retailers such as Vestiaire and Net-A-Porter have seen an increase in sales for that category of up to 70%.

As the nights draw in and the weather gets colder, the mood lifting qualities of joggers or a cashmere hoodie are undeniable. One step away from being in your actual pyjamas or nightwear of choice, loungewear can be both chic and comfortable, and that right there is the key.

For spring/summer 2020, it was all about the knitted cycling shorts paired with an oversized shirts, and the autumn trends are also leaning to the oversized.

You can go down the premium route and invest in some lovely cashmere or knitted pieces that will last you way beyond the lockdown period. Designers and the high street are full of great layering options, whether it’s a dress over trousers or a cropped cardigan over joggers.

On the more casual side of things, cotton t-shirts, sweatshirts and tracksuit bottoms are always a good idea, and can look incredibly cool, just ask Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber. For even more LA vibes, try a tie dye style, they’re everywhere right now.

I’m also a big fan of robes, which you can just throw over anything from a slip dress to pyjamas. If you’re a bit strapped for cash, then the good news is the high street has some excellent purse-friendly options.

Zara Home has an incredible loungewear line, as do Arket and COS – look out for the latter’s amazing take on a hoodie dress.
