Holiday Makeup Tutorial For The Glamorous

Time to Celebrate The Holidays!

Despite the pandemic, the holiday season is riddled with numerous parties and a lot of fun which is a really good excuse to go all glam. Plus the weather on this side of the planet is totally ripe for glamorous makeup looks, the temperature is a bit chillier than usual which we all know would hold makeup really well so I thought I’d share a holiday glam makeup tutorial today.

I know it can be intimidating to create this look especially for some of you who aren’t really used to wearing a lot of makeup, but trust me if you follow these instructions you won’t go wrong. Oh, Feel free to tweak the products used because anyway, it’s all about having fun.

This super glam and dramatic holiday makeup tutorial is inspired by the holidays. Red lips and glitter. What more could you ask for? Perfect when going to a party, late-night Fridays, and any special occasion. If you’re bold enough you can even wear a version of this makeup look with these beautiful outfits perfect for the holiday as well.

So what are you waiting for? Let’s get on it!

What You’ll Need:

Note: When you know which foundation to put on, take note that the neck will always be a different color than your body, so my best advice is to match the decolletage unless you’re wearing a closed-neck attire.

How To:

  1. Apply foundation on your face, go sheer or go full coverage however you prefer as long as it matches your body color. I know foundation could be a hard trick for oily skin, luckily here’s a list of the best foundation for oily skin.
  2. Sometimes it’s not necessary to apply concealer, but if you need to, don’t forget to set the concealer with a setting powder immediately after to avoid creasing.
  3. Set your base with a setting powder to lock the product in place. This is also going to help with the application of the powder products you’re going to apply next.
  4. Next, fill your brows with a color that matches your hair color. The rule is if you have light hair go 2 shades darker, but if you have dark hair go 2 shades lighter.
  5. Prime the lids with an eye primer to help with lasting eye color and saturation.
  6. Apply the Orange Soda shade from your palette to create a transition and contour the eyes for a more deep and dramatic look. You can use a sheet of paper to make sure you have a perfect winged line at the outer corner of your lid. You also want to make sure that you apply it only to the crease.
  7. Using a brush pick up a gold eyeshadow and deposit it right on the lid area. Nikkie used Makeup Geek’s Foiled Eyeshadow in “Untamed” to create this holiday makeup tutorial look.
  8. Apply glitter right where the gold eyeshadow is to create texture and to highlight the lid more. Then apply glitter eyeliner. However, if you have cosmetic loose glitter in your kit, that should be good as well.
  9. Don’t forget to give your lower lash line some love. Apply the same darker eyeshadow to create depth and to add more detail as shown in this holiday makeup tutorial.
  10. Apply false lashes for a bolder more wide-eyed look. This will truly turn your makeup look glamorous.
  11. The next step is to contour your face. You can do this to narrow down your facial perimeter or to create a narrower looking nose. This holiday makeup tutorial used NYX blush in Taupe.
  12. Create highlights on the higher planes of the face to help create a more chiseled look.
  13. Apply blushers between the contour and highlight and kind of blend it all together for a subtle glow to your glam makeup look.
  14. Lastly, apply your red lipstick to finish this holiday makeup tutorial.

The Holiday season is definitely the best time of the year to be wearing makeup that is bold and out there. Don’t be afraid to bring out your inner fierce by going all out on makeup, but as always balance is key.

In fact, hire a makeup artist if you may. But, if that is not within what you are willing to spend, then this holiday makeup tutorial is definitely a good example of how it is done.
